University of Kent Rome

While studying in Rome, I was informed that a document existed for our sister Masters programme in Paris, a student 'survival' guide. It explained where to buy bus tickets, how to get to the campus and other tips and tricks.

Confused why such a resource didn't exist for our cohort, and ever the over-achiever, I created one and sent it to the faculty.

This wonderfully opened a door that allowed me to apply for a role at the University on my return, as a Rome Programme Administrator for the University of Kent's Rome School. It was a great first role straight after I graduated, I brought a car and rented a lecturer's apartment on campus and entered the world of work - for real.

While assisting with administration for the term abroad courses of the department, I was approached to sort out various marketing endeavours and so my career in marketing began.

Some of the tasks:

  • Upkeep of all the social media sites linked to the Rome Centre
  • Creation of Instagram and Twitter pages
  • Overhaul of Facebook page
  • Implementing a marketing strategy
  • Re-wrote and redesigned the content for the centre’s website
  • Organised and oversaw multiple trips to the overseas centres
  • Facebook Blueprint qualification
  • Event management

It was a great first contract role and opened my eyes to the world of marketing.
